When I had a problem with the headlight vacuum a while back, I made up these little locks from Builders Metal Strip.

Avoided that dreaded headlight sinking at open throttle on the motorway :o

Hope I don't need it, but a useful idea for us non failsafe +2 owners.
Am currently sorting my vacuum system. A vacuum gauge (Amazon) is proving very illuminating and my problem quickly traced to the dash switch and /or the fit of the short connectors to the main pipes.

Quite an inventive "failsafe" I like the simplicity.
I've gone a bit left field (added some weight.. Sorry Chunky) and installed a vacuum pump & pressure switch. Seems to work fine and so have now blanked the inlet manifold but it could be run in conjunction with the manifold port like a lot of moderns do for brake servo
easy to return to standard if needs be & they go up & down just as sedately as before.
Hope will also make the fuelling a bit more consistent.
