accuspark distributor no start

I fitted one of their electronic ignition conversions in 2011 and I have only seen it since then when lubricating the shaft.
Although, the module is actually made by Ultraspark.

Morning,

I had a reply from Accuspark about the large advance curve on their Elan distributor.

"I am aware of all original standard curves on cars from the 60s with leaded 4-5 star fuel .
We supply performance distributors that work with modern fuels.
General rule of thumb , more advance more power, except in cases that have powere adders . where compression may be an issue ."

Do you think he may have a point, or am I better sticking to the standard advance? I realise I am straying into quite specialized territory, but there is a wealth of knowledge and experience on this site so maybe someone can help.
