With +2S Lotus Wheels :?
Alan

I saw it first hand fairly sure it was a +2....... Look where the fuel tank is.

Although it was 20 years ago and obliterated.

The lower sill looks like +2

Fuel pumps do need to be primed. So having fuel in pump.

Another thing, filters both before and after a pump. Quiet the pulsating notably.

Hi Chris,
sorry but from a photo like that i should have put my Anorak on
Give us more info please.
It just seems strange for me a roll over bar in a +2. I've never seen one in a +2 in many years of Lotus tinkering but you're never too old to learn.
It always seems a thing for Ragtops.

Didn't even cross my mind at the time, was a very fresh rebuild from memory but it did have a roof.

The problem i have is over the years i've seen allot of sorry looking Lotus's (i worked at a Lotus approved repairers) so it's easy to get them mixed up.

Unsure about it being a rollbar but is it possibly the remains of the fuel breather /overflow pipes that loop over the headlining on a +2?

I thought that too, but consider the roof is ripped off so surely the pipes would be ripped off too?

I don't think so, it was quite heavy gauge steel with a diagonal bar. But again was 20 years ago........

Isn't the vent pipes made out of that garden hose clear reinforced stuff?

I wasn't trying to start a debate over the type of Elan it was but rather selecting a solid place to mount the Inertia switch that would be triggered no matter which direction the car was struck or how hard. In my opinion it needs to be fixed to the chassis but the knock on effect might be a decent pot hole will trip it (as it would in most cars that have them standard)
