hi
the world is advancing...just came across this: a bluetooth enabled distributor so you can control timing from your smartphone...and add a PIN to your car for security !!

https://123ignitionusa.com/bt-tune-for- ... aspirated/

Although my link goes to the USA they are actually a company based in the netherlands:

I played with one of these in a friends XK150. It was very easy to adjust the timing from a cell phone while he was driving.
However, having just had a Pertronix distributor quit totally while on an event I have to wonder just how much can go wrong with something with this much complexity?

$509?

I paid less than that for TWO Mk1 Lotus Cortinas back in the day. :D

123 have been around a while - search the forum for issues and / or performance reviews.

A good option if you?re looking for a new distributor, but as you say, not that cheap !

I have a couple of these, one fitted to my S3 the other on my Sprint. They've been in operation for over a year and have performed flawlessly.

I take my cars to Bogg Brothers rolling road, Mr. Bogg is eighty-three years old and as sharp as a man half his age. He was ever so tickled when I showed him how to change the timing on my phone.

I like the idea. Whereabouts or from whom did you source your distributors, here in UK?

I bought them straight off the Dutch website.

Forgot to mention that the distributors have an anti theft feature making it impossible to start the car until the feature is disabled.

Ok, that's great thanks. I saw the anti theft feature and the soft rev limiter. I'll add one to the 'to do' list. :D
