Very nice seats. Which ones do you guys recommend for the Elan? I need one that has an opening for a crotch belt and belts down from the roll bar.

I have the Classic CS with headrest and lap belt openings- not sure if they can accomodate for shoulder straps-

Back in the day Cobra seats were so lusted after, vehicles would be stolen (it was easy back then!) just for the Cobra seats and Wolfrace alloy wheels.

You could even buy "Rally" seat covers that had padding and stuffed bits either side to replicate (only to a blind man!) Cobra seats, held on with elastic ties they offered no support and you would slide off the seat wearing the stupid things while cornering, ask me how I knew

There was also a big market in chipboard and cardboard imitation wood veneer centre consoles that also had no stability, flat pack kit form like Ikea but without the quality.

What boy racer rubbish do you admit to being the proud owner of back in the day?

I might of had 4" slabs of foam on the door cards upholstered in Blue velvet on a Hillman Minx

My dad had a "car coat" he wore it when when the family went on an outing once a month on a Sunday drive to prevent the vehicle from decomposing through disuse.

Heaters, if a car had one, in those days were so bad and the vehicles so drafty that a car coat was needed.

A few memories, chequered flag tape for side stripes.

Jack up bars and Thrush outsiders.

Fur interiors

Stick on rear screen heaters

Aftermarket windscreen washer kits

Clip on headrests with all the stability of the Cobra imitation seat covers

Paddy Hopkirk Mini accessories, seat tilt brackets, steering column lowering brackets, gear lever extension and switch extenders, - clever marketting, rake the seat with the brackets to look cool and you needed all the others to be able to drive the car

Mangoletsi manifold modifiers

Pleated cable operated radiator blinds.

Kenlowe fans.

I've been looking at seats a little bit; between the '70s Naugahyde (cough-cough-tvacc!) and the rusted-out front bracket, my current seats are shot. I think it'd cost as much or more to repair what I have as to get replacement seats of some kind, either stock or aftermarket. I don't need 100% stock but I'd like fairly stock-looking but with leather - that'll be not QUITE as brutal to get into on a hot day as the vinyl!

I do like the looks of the Silverstone B21 seats: http://shop.bf-torino.com/bf-autositze/ ... black.html
But again, the question is if they would fit in an S2 and if so, what bracket magic would have to happen to make them work.

My first car was a '73 Super Beetle, to which I affixed a stoopid sheet-aluminium rear wing which I got from the JC Whitney catalog. It attached by toggle-nuts to the ventilation slots just below the rear window.

If you aren?t going original, how about Elise seats

I have a pair and they are really comfy and come with built in headrest

Get the later probax ones though, the early ones were horrible uncomfortable with nearly no padding!

The seats in my '05 Elise are VERY uncomfortable even after adding additional padding! The probax ones seem much nicer from the short amount of time I've sat in them.

I'd want seats that at least look "era" though, like from a similar vintage as the car. I suspect that Elise seats would look really strange in an Elan.

These may be Exige seats fitted before final trimming (which still needs to be completed)
