Electric headlamp conversion.

Probably not as good as Doulag's bracket but might be interesting to some and can be made with basic tools and skills...

I made a simple U shape bracket for mine. Each side is 145mm x 90mm, the base is 65mm x 90mm. I used sheet Ali and did a 15mm folded lip for extra strength.

The motor is bolted to the double thickness edge. The 1/4 inch bolts run though 1/4 x 1" spacers to allow for extra depth of the motor versus the mounting lugs.

Is bolted to the car with 3/8 bolts in the top right and central original mounting holes, bolted with large washers.

Here is a template for the motor bracket. I have just traced around a second bracket I made at the time but it should be close enough. Cut and fold along the dotted lines and adjust as required. Before drilling the mounting holes you will need to decide which direction to have the red knob on top of the motor facing.

For info, the cross bar is available in the UK for the plus2 so would it just be a case of cutting and welding that to the right length for the 2 seater? Are the fixings to the pods the same on both cars?

I was looking at this myself although I have got two motors just in case. Seems easier to only mount and wire one motor instead of two. Probably adds lightness into the bargain.

Hi Dougal9877. I'm in the process of converting my Elan S4 to Mazda units. Your circuit diagram is very useful but I'm confused about the double pole switch. Where is that situated on the car and why in your explanation does it never appear to move. Is this another part of the Mazda set up.
Cheers
