Has anyone any photos of Elans (especially Plus 2's) fitted with a splitter?...
Has anyone any ideas as for donor vehicles for the above?...
Has anyone any experience of fast road use fitted with the above?..
Thanks
John

Just thinking at the moment...

John,
Check out the pictures of Alan "Spyder Fan's Duratec Elan.
If my memory serves me well he used a (modified) Europa one.

Is that actually going to work?

I am certainly no aerodynaicsist, but it looks to me that there will be a bit of turbulance behind the splitter due to its angle to the air. A splitter is usually parallel to the air flow splitting the air either side of it, hence its name. This looks more like an air dam to me.

But, hey, what do I know.

I think the idea of the chin spoiler was to create resistance to keep the nose down at high speed
and poss direct air into the rad.....

parts listed here
http://www.parts.banks-europa.co.uk/orders_frame.htm
?56 to ?102...then VAT of course

if it was to be a real splitter than I think you may need to design wind channels and rear venturi

So it is acting more like a wing than a splitter. But if it works and does what you want it to who cares what it is called :-)

sounds about right......

banks call it a spoiler...is that 'coz it spoils the airflow then...

Hi John

A few years ago I visited the Spyder workshops and Andy (of Spyder) showed me a +2 witha chin spoiler and was telling me how effective it was at preventing the light steering that one experiences when travelling at high speed (above 90 mph) in a +2. It looked very much like the chin spoiler fitted to the europa, maybe slightly smaller.

Not that I have fitted one to mine but if I had any major bodyworks to do I would certainly give it serious consideration.

All the best

Andy

Hi John

If you have a look at Google Images of either the Veagantune Elan or Evante you will see an alternative front spoiler.

Regards
John

and with a couple of fixings.....

Next job is to road test it....

I just pity any road-kill that gets in the way....

Many thanks to all

P.S Don't know why the piccies didn't end up where I put them???
