Lotus Elan

Engine Swaps for Lotus Elan

PostPost by: rgh0 » Wed Jul 23, 2014 2:33 pm

I suspect it could be a 4AGE engine as this is the performance engine version and very popular for clubman and other engine swaps here in Australia up until recently when its emission certification expired and people have moved to newer engines..

cheers

I recently bought an S3 FHC. I will be converting it to electric drive. The electric motor I tentatively plan to use is rated for 210hp continuous (can peak at two to three times that), weighs 101 lbs with oil but without coolant, requires liquid coolant, optionally requires an oil cooler in addition to the liquid cooling (if used for racing), and can develop enough torque to twist a 26R or Spyder chassis into a pretzel at any rpm from 0 to 7,000 (so will be limited by the motor controller, which also requires liquid cooling).

Now, this will make an intersting thread, at least for those of us that don't mind a little tinkering with Colin's masterpiece :-)
