Hi Guys
At the moment I intend to run the std ECU along with the instrument pack and steering column as the key is matched to the whole system.

I'd be interested in the dry sump info as a kit is available but at ?2500 its a crazy price.

I don't think the engine suffers from surge but the extra couple of inches clearance would be handy.

The S2000 diff gave really bad gearing as dropping from 17 inch wheels to 13 inch needed the 3.62 diff from the Cosworth.

I will be making the driveshafts similar to 26R shafts as the car is having the 26R S2 outer driveshafts on the rear so sliding splines and flanges it will be.

Cheers
Dave

Hi Dave,

Here's the link to the dry sumped S2000 motor. http://www.speedracersportscars.com.au/PRBS2K.htm

Gee I'm hoping that one can get away without using the Honda instrument cluster.

Best,
Jon

Hi Ian,

Thanks for this.

Canbus, that sounds all modern and high tech ! To let you know my general perspective on this stuff, my good friend Robert is a chronometric speedo/tach fiend and he's got me jonesing for a nice 5" chrono tach and a tiny 3" chrono speedo. But I digress.

I really don't want to go the Canbus route at all. I just want to run the S2000 motor, hopefully with the (relatively) cheap stock ECU. If that requires running the S2000 instruments, steering column and WTH all else, I'll cough for a stand alone controller. As you can tell I haven't looked into this at all (even though I have an S2000 shop manual).

Well, back to the (blacksmith's) shop and straightening my Elan chassis.

Best,
Jon

I have a spare original S2-3? chassis came in my type 36. Anyone need it?

'Using a spyder chassis in my build...
Interested in what fruition came of F20 motor in the elan. My street car is currently a 03 S2000 with AP2 wheels and tires. Marvelous car.

Finally managed to retrieve my rolling chassis from the **** who was supposed to make the shell. He had left it out in the rain so the brandnew chassis will need blasting and painting.

I have started work again and made the floorpan to see where the pedals and exhaust have to be run. Pity its not LHD that would make things easier.

Exhaust is going to have to run up and forward then down around the steering column and along under the chassis to the back of the car.

I am using a Wilwood pedal box with the master cylinders mounted under the dash and the reservoirs above the passenger footwell.

The bulkhead will be cut back approx. 25mm to clear the back of the engine and re laminated using a rigid panel made from 4 layers of 450gsm CSM and two layers of core mat between.

This will be rigid enough to mount the pedal box once the shell is bonded together.

Will hopefully make some progress now its back.

The engine fits under the bonnet without a problem.
Just waiting to take it to get the exhaust system built.

Once the exhaust is finished I can get on with bonding on the roof and fitting the Chinese eye light panels.

Wow! I was toying with buying an S2000 recently - fabulous engine which should be completely insane in an Elan

Heat management is going to be a challenge though - what are your plans?

Rear 26R style outer driveshafts ready to be fitted to the rear uprights.

progress at last.

re the heat build up I will be fitting vents in bonnet and in engine bay/a pillar to remove excess heat from the engine bay, I hope it will be enough!!
