A sequential transmission may be good on the track and for bragging rights but not so good on the road and for general enjoyment. Honda definitely understand how to build enjoyable cars. With EV’s coming on stream they are rapidly becoming a minnow in the industry. I hope they can survive.

No one is in dispute about the quality of the S2000 box. But in my opinion its not the right gearbox for an Elan. Which I believe this thread is referring to.
With reference to the supplied picture, that combination was fitted to a sprint and hillclimb Westfield.
Not too dissimilar in size and weight to an Elan
Ask yourself one question, is this the box that Colin Chapman would have used?

I reckon Honda was far better at power train development than Chapman ever was. Chapman only ever considered the powertrain as a means to move that chassis!! His expertise was with the chassis. Seriously though I’d be I interested to know the ratios of that sequential transmission.

1st 2.69
2nd 2.01
3rd 1.59
4th 1.32
5th 1.13
6th 1 to 1
Rev 2.96
Ratios ideal for the F20 , lots of revs , but
lacking a little torque.

What tyre size are you using? I assume 3.92 is the diff ratio. I’ll crunch a few numbers as I’m a bit intrigued!
