S4 Duratec Project *The finishing Touch*

PostPost by: Spyder fan » Fri Sep 16, 2011 7:00 am

  Okay okay, I get the message regarding 'DuraLAN'

The sidewinders are made and they say 'ELAN SUPERSPRINT', I'm hoping that purists will take it as a sort of homage rather than an attempt to wind people up, this definitely isn't going to be a car for shrinking violets

John, I could call it the ViagELAN for you? You probably will get all tumescent over it anyway

Gary, I actually thought it was a good name, but have realised it contains my own name Dur'ALAN' which is a bit pretentious I suppose, sorry to keep you awake thinking of a smart arse comment.

Greg, Etec is far too cerebral for us bunch of losers and is too similar to Zetec with all the bad feeling that little name gives some people.

Kindest regards

It's either a Spydeo or a Monder. Or a Spytec, Durader or, to keep up with the Dutch, a SpyKa (I think that the Ka has a Duratec, n'est pas?)

A Spydeo SuperSprint has a certain ring, especially if you have a lisp.

Then delving further into the mire, how about "The Speedo" otherwise known as Alan Thomas 'Budgie Smuggler'.

I know, I know, it's a pants suggestion!

My friend Tom used to say (from his dad)

Money talks and bullshit walks!

Enough said.

Here's a few pictures taken at SMS today. I wanted to see the bare painted shell before it went back to Spyder for assembly, I'm really pleased with the result.

That looks really nice Alan.

I came very close to painting my car in Pistachio when I did it. It's a colour you can't ignore :D

Did Lambo call it "pistachio"?

Seen it described as all sorts...apple green, lime green, acid apple green, verde athica....but never pistachio.

Hi Richard,
I'm not sure about Lamborghini, but Lotus only called it Pistachio for a short time when the colour was first offered and then described the colour as Lime Green in their subsequent brochures. Tim's site has the details, I'm only going from memory on this.
