Ok ....so the MT75 seems easy to fit but the 1 gear ratio is not ideal.
Am I better modifing the tail housing on a type 9 and fitting that ? I've looked at the cost of me converting it and its about to ?600 and it all seems rather do-able
Are the ratios of the type 9 much better ?
Many of us here modded a type 9?

If you search out Worzel he was selling a modified T9 the end of last year. It was a reasonable price and was built from a brand new gearbox rather than used. He may still have it. Wouldnt fit a Spyder frame otherwise I would have had it myself.
You can then go to
BGH geartech and get whatever ratios you want.

Alan Voight (search on his name, his address is on another post) sells a conversion with a proper rear tail housing that places the shift lever in the correct position for a T9 conversion. The kit also contains the bits needed to hook up to the drive shaft.
If you buy his complete kit, you get a new bellhousing also.
But you get the standard gear ratios, pretty close to those in the MT75.
BGH Geartech sells good alternative ratios sets. Get either the 2.66 or 2.75 E7 with .82 5th set.
However, BGH is coy about how to get the gear lever properly placed.
And they use the standard input shaft, which means you need a different clutch.
I don't know how close they are to you, but it might be worthwhile to chat with Brian to see what they are willing to do. Certainly, there has been interest in T9 conversions here on LotusElan.net. Let us know what you find.
