Have a look at this:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/155071545324 ... R4Kvm5vAYA

As these are out of production and I think none available new any more, this to me is far too cheap. But the seller is a recognised twin cam guru, so I expect he knows what he is doing...

Only I now have a brand new pair, I would snap it up.

I suspect that they are cheap because the majority of people overhauling a twin cam now end up going down the route of buying a front cover from one of the usual suspects that takes a modular, bolt-in water pump to make replacement easier. I can only speculate that those covers are new castings (and likely higher quality) as I believe most of the suppliers do not sell them on an exchange basis, so I'm not sure how else they would get a supply of ones to machine...

:D

When I first looked at ebay and saw the covers, I did not stop long enough to realise that this was an auction item. I saw the £156 and thought wow, Mr Stagg is losing it! But even at £526, it is not bad - a little more than a new one, but for what it is, and from where it came, a good price. You have to note that some of these old ancilliary parts are becoming rarer by the day and securing good parts costs. Take a sump for a six bolt crank - nothing special about them, but I considered myself fortunate finding a good one at £450 amongst all the cr*ppy ones that were welded up jobs, and badly at that, where £250 is the norm... (I won't say what I would have paid as the seller is on this forum! - but it was a bargain)
