Things are moving smoothly with my restoration plans for this Elan. I met up with my local car buddies this afternoon and we developed an idea of where and how to do the final assembly.

Coincidentally I returned home and all 3 of my new books arrived in the mail. I thumbed the yellow Brian Buckland bible and saw this gem of a picture of page 38...

"A series 3 drop head in the woods..."

Now that's the kind of motivation I need to get rolling.

We'll keep you posted as the project makes its way out to Oklahoma City and gets finished.

After reconstructing the S3 with a little luck my wife and I may just be able to recreate that photo!!!!

Neil,

I wholeheartedly agree, the photo you posted from Brian's book is fantastic!!!!

Things are moving along nicely here too. The engine, trans, and driveshaft are installed and the body was placed back on the frame Wednesday. We were going to install the windshield but the weather was no cooperating. Windshield should be in by the middle of next week.

Heading out for my walk.

Ciao!

Frank

On Friday December 31 Frank the seller helped load the project into an enclosed trailer piloted by my friend Jeremy Roper who made a three night holiday weekend round trip road trip to pick it up.

It arrived here in Oklahoma City on the day of my 40th Birthday!!!! How special!

My goal is to have it finished by October and I'll post photos/updates along the way.

Thanks to Frank, Jeremy, and Bob (who loaned us the trailer). A lot of people have really chipped in to seeing this project get finished... including Frank's family and friends in Georgia. We'll see Jack's vision realized in this car named Jack! Thank you!!!!!

Happy New Year!
Neil

Congrats on your new acquisition and cheers to Frank for making it happen. Can't wait to see your photos as you proceed with assembly-what a great project. Really like the BRG on an Elan.

Cheers, Mark

Neil,

A good friend of mine recently sent me this short video stating he would like to have an Elan after seeing this. It seems to be a story similar to you and Jack. You might enjoy it. It is a very well done video. Looking forward to helping you!

Thanks Frank!

Another guy in my British Car group sent this to me on Monday and I've shared it with 3 other guys this week. It makes me soooo excited since the owner in the video also accepted a project with a rebuilt engine and put it together with such satisfaction.

To update everyone I stopped by Mike Glass's shop today to revisit when we can get started. He is finishing up one MGB at the moment and then my car will be in his shop.

I have a plan to go though all the parts and lay them out on a ping pong table to start making a plan of putting this toy together! I hope to start that in the next 2-4 weeks. I'll keep everyone posted on this blog with photos!!!

Neil,

I'm pretty sure Mike does a lot of work with friends of mine, David Patten, Jeff Norris, and Dean Wilhite.

I've met Mike before. He may remember me from the track.

Oklahoma British Car Breakfast Club

The S3 Project has arrived to Glass Autoworks in Oklahoma City. This morning members of the Oklahoma British Car Breakfast Club met up. A new member named Doug arrived in a Lotus Elise and we became fast friends.

Following the meetup several friends (Dean Wilhite, Michael Hathaway, Ryan Reaves, Nathan York and Doug Stratto) joined the restoration shop owner Mike Glass and myself to unpack the boxes that have parts for the project.

As a novice it was both exhilarating and overwhelming for me... but I'm thrilled to get started on it. From time to time I'll post updates. We are still sorting the parts and making plans for reasonable electrical and cooling modifications in the coming weeks.

A big thanks to Famous Frank, Steve Lyle and this community in advance for your support and guidance as we form the questions we need your advice and experience to answer.

Neil
