Hi Graham
Just wanted to check the following
Did your car start out as a +2 SE as stated above or was it a S4 SE ?
The car looks very nice
Thanks
Chris

Hi Chris
It left the factory as a +2 SE. At some point it was converted to a Sprint using a kit sold by Christopher Neil Ltd. The kit used the engine and transmission off a another Lotus and provided the body, chassis suspension etc to build the Sprint.
I spoke to Neil's some years ago to see if they had any record of the car. Apparently they lost their records a while ago in a flood so they couldn't help with dates etc. They told me it wasn't uncommon to buy a +2 back then that had been in an accident and use it as the donor car to build a Sprint using their kit which, they claim, was a more popular car in the '70s.
Regards
G
