1970 Elan S4 S/E drop-head for sale in Georgia, USA

PostPost by: thecarnut » Tue Feb 04, 2020 2:18 pm

Acquired the car as part of a trade with a Maserati. Sold originally in Canada where it spent most of its life. Restoration started about 20 years ago with a lot of money and time spent, including new galvanized frame and engine rebuilt. Restoration put on hold for many years and completed 5 years ago. About 4K miles driven after the restoration. I own the car and I am not a dealer. I like this Elan but it is not the type of car I collect.

For some reason the Dropbox link, with all the photos, in my prior post is not working. Let me try again.

Hi Ivan,

Welcome to the site even if it’s to be for a short while. Hope you don’t mind me asking but what’s the story with regard to the window frames being chopped off? At least the parts are there should someone be skilled enough to put them back.

The previous owner did not like the look of the frames when the top is down. I have to agree with him that the frames do look out of place. Personally I would not have cut the frames but now that it is done I would not put them back on.

The windows go up and down just fine without the frames. Since the car has a tonneau cover I doubt the soft top will get much use.
