SOLD

Sadly, the time has come for me to sell my Elan Plus 2.

1969 Lotus Elan Plus 2 (VIN:502180) Registered as a 1971. Third owner, 28,000 miles. Silver car with black vinyl roof and Peco wood steering wheel (installed at the dealership in Toronto when it arrived, I know because I met the Lotus mechanic that did it who lives 4 doors down from me! Small world:)). Weber head. Originally red, but repainted/"restored" in 2010 and painted silver. Car is very complete with all the trim pieces etc. Centre console is intact for example. Everything electrical works. When purchased 3 years ago, the following was completed: RD Enterprises CV conversion kit with differential output shafts, differential inspected; new rear lower A arm, all new suspension bushings, ball joints, trunnions rebuilt, gas tank removed cleaned pressure checked, painted; differential strengthening brace. The motor is tired in this car. It consumes oil and a rebuild will be required in the near future. The engine does hold 40 lbs oil pressure under any load and at idle when cold - warm. Falls to a minimum of 20 lbs on idle when hot. It does still make decent power though. The gearbox leaks quite a bit of oil and we have topped it up once a year. Clutch is still good, braking vibration suggests slight warping of front disks. Single brake booster (I have never liked the feel). No grinding in any gear, still very satisfying gear change. Clutch slave cylinder replaced. I always intended to keep the car and eventually tackle the rebuild myself. The condition of the motor has remained the same from the day I got the car and has not stopped me from putting 4000 miles on the car in 3 years driving it very "enthusiastically" on 1 - 1.5 hour drives. The current condition of the paint is average, it's a 10 footer with some micro blistering present. Stress cracks are minimal and restricted to around the headlights and bonnet release on both sides.

It's very hard for me to come up with a price to ask for this car. I view it as a 100% complete driving project. For some people, the engine will need to be done immediately, for others you could drive it for another couple of years the way I have. So I'm asking $12,000 USD obo. Car is located in Vancouver BC, Canada. Please PM or post for more information, pictures etc.

Sorry, I realized I had some old pictures. I've replaced them with some that are from today. The car has BC collectors plates and is being driven at least weekly.

Hi Rob, trying to send you a private message, unsure how to. I would appreciate being able to speak to you about this car. Thank you, Greg

I deleted my post after hearing personally from the advertiser for the car. PPI's are recommended - including by him.

Best of luck.
