Elan S130 1973 for restoration, location Mid Sussex.

I bought this car from my late brother in law 20 years ago with a view to restoration, well that is not going to happen now, so a new owner is required to return it to its former glory!

The car is complete but does require a ground up restoration hence an asking price of ( please see below)
I have attached some images, please mail me if you want more details or wish to view.

Addition to post

Wow my attempt to find a new home for the Lotus has prompted a deluge of replies.
Along with several offers to buy the car unseen and I will send the money now, were messages along the lines of,'hold on, do you know than the car is under priced?' Well no I did not..so I have taken some advice, and have revised the price to offers above ?2800.
I apologise to those people who have shown an interest and may be miffed, the error was mine...
Attached should be additional images, actually looking at the car is best, and I will try to be available to show it to anyone who is interested evenings and at the weekend.
THE CAR HAS BEEN SOLD....thank you to everybody who showed interest in the car.

Shane

If you consider the engine that was advertised on eBay recently and highlighted in this forum, you will see that it went for ?3656.99

That's JUST an engine needing a full and expensive rebuild.

A body and chassis combo based in East Sussex recently went for ?2050 and that was WITHOUT drivetrain and was in need of a full rebuild. With a fair few bits missing too.

I really think that you should re evaluate the price to reflect the current trend towards these classic cars and to prevent not getting an accurate value for what you have.

No disrespect, but I'm not sure that's a fair comment. There's a 22k mile complete resto project for sale at ?5k on preloved.com -as far as I'm aware no takers. An engine less car on ebay @ ?2k-no bids and numerous average +2's for sale at ? 7or 8 k.
If this chap actually wishes to SELL the car as opposed to have it sitting around for months, the proposed figure doesnt seem crazy. The car is a complete wreck and you'd need to mad to undertake such a restoration when really good +2's are ?12/15K.....However, a buyer through Elan.net might just restore it as opposed to the bulk of potential buyers who just wish to pull the engine out. Shouldnt one just allow the chap to try and sell the car without further interference...Oh, and I don't want to buy it either.

IMHO that car is a very attractive prospect for someone - a complete car with all the bits in place and not stripped out and in boxes like a lot of project cars (like mine was).

It's worth ?2.8k all day long, and a lot more besides in my opinion. It's just what people are after and I have no doubt it is now with a lucky new owner waiting to be brought back to it's former glory.

I do hope it hasn't fallen into the hands of the 'wrong' person and been raped for its engine, interior trim etc

It's the car that 'Maddy' should have bought :P

Im in agreement with Jon.

While I understand completely the need to advertise at a realistic price to sell in a predetermined time scale I was only pointing out that our cars are rising in value and perhaps the seller should reconsider the price. I gave the examples as current values for what poeple were paying. There may well be other examples where you would differ in your opinion and im fully aware of the cost of some lovely elans going for very little in comparison to a full restoration.

Although not possibly relevent, I recently received information about a kitcar AC Cobra replica going for ?25000. The car was nothing special, a Ford 302, Jag based run of the mill. Only fetched that due to being correctly registered and sva/iva free.

This really makes our cars under valued in my opinion.
