1965 elan s2 for sale

PostPost by: rcp » Thu Nov 07, 2013 12:39 am

My father passed several years ago and we are in the process of going through EVERYTHING. Having ALL the worldly advice known to man and sharing it with everyone he ever met, he NEVER followed it. Therefore leaving us to sell everything he ever aquired. I can remember riding in the car as a child. Sitting up on the back as we cruised through town. At some point he took it off the road to "redo it"(Always had dreams of a cosworth powered elan, to kick ass in). BAM!!! goodbye 40 years. The car is in ok to poor condition? Its the body on all the running gear. Never hit. Just found the engine+head, tranny, extra seats, extra doors w/ glass, I believe an extra wooden dash board. Possibly extra rear struts rotors/calipers. To be honest, I dont really know what all I'm looking at. It was his dream and the last time I was in it I was 7. I would hate to see it go through a shredder when I'm sure others share his addiction. Perhaps someone would be interested in helping Big Bobs(as we would affectionately call) dream ride again? I'm SURE you would have an invisible co-pilot. ANY help is greatly appreciated. THANKS in advance. p.s. sorry i don't have pics up. Its kind of chaotic going through a hoarders basement. No sh*t, floor to ceiling treasure... Chris

If origional and mostly there - sell it complete - not parted out. Consider Ebay - it could fetch you a good $$.

Better yet - take it up as a hobby and restore it.

You think you have a lot on with a basement clearance! Im telling you, you are having a tea party. This is what I have been sorting through for a year. Every room the same. You could not even get past the doorway to most rooms. Not started on the workshop or garage yet.

Good luck with it.

Chris, You are in a good area of the country to get help. Philadelphia has a strong Lotus Club. I'm sure that someone will be in touch to help you out. If not, I am down in Baltimore.

PS. I dread the day of having to clear out Big Dan's basement filled with radio controlled airplanes that he began building while stationed in Vietnam in the '60's. Loads of tools, parts, partial builds, completed planes... you name it. The common challenge, find those someones that have similar views of treasures.

If there really is a spare pair of doors, I'd be interested, but please don't part out a complete Elan project. They are much too rare.

Sounds like an interesting project with a fascinating history! I'd love to discuss the car and your father's legacy.

Thanks,

I'd be keen to learn more; I'd agree that a complete car is rare and worth keeping whole. I'm looking for a project that I can start with my kids - create those memories.
