1968 LOTUS +2 NOW SOLD

PostPost by: 512BB » Sun Feb 24, 2013 7:10 am

This sale is for a 1968 +2 that has not been on the road for over 20 years. The car is an early skinny black seats model, with the purer lines than later cars. There is a correct V5, but as the car has not been on the road for the stated 20 years, is pre SORN, so you will not be driven mad by the DVLA to continually SORN the car, while you complete the rebuild.

The body was painted over 10 years past, and is ready to go, save for needing a good buff, and a touch up in a couple of places. There are no sinkage marks or cracks, which must bear testament to the quality of the original damage free shell, and to the quality of the prep work before painting. The engine bay has also been refinished in black.

The Lotus chassis is good, having been refurbed. The diff is in, as are the original driveshafts and NOS donuts, together with rebuilt rear brake calipers.

Both front and rear screens are in, as is the headlining. Two new galvanised sills have been fitted. The front seats are in excellent original condition and the previous owner has started to fit out the interior.

Just a minor point, THERE IS NO ENGINE WITH THE CAR, which is how it came to me, but I was told by the previous owner, who dismantled the car, that save for that, the car is complete, including gearbox, in many boxes. For clarity, the gearbox is NOT in pieces, but complete and whole.

I could supply a correct 681 blocked engine and head for this car, either rebuilt or in parts, from my own collection, if wanted. Or you could go your own way with a zetec, heavens above, or whatever.

You will be aware, that a good respray on these cars, costs in excess of ?6000, and that has been taken care of.

The TOTAL price for the whole shebang is ?3000.

Please do not add a message to this listing saying you have PMd me, I will know when you have. I like to keep my business, my business. Thank you

Well Leslie - I reckon that is an absolute bargain for someone looking for a project to finish! I think your Inbox might get a little busy soon.

hello,

I am brand new here, this is my very first post. Despite the fact that I already have a project +2 I would be very interested. Mine is missing too much to make this a complete car.

Your car would make life much easier for me. Is it still there?

This engine would slip nicely into the above car I have for sale, and I would think, be reasonable at auction end.

Hi,

I am interested in your car but could you tell me roughly where you are?
I assume the project is trailerable and that there are not too many bits to fill up the back of a Land Rover.
FYI I'm in Kent, near the Sussex border.
Thanks

hope Im not treading on toes....
but I have been to see the car......

good project but a little too much for me......

the car is about 10 miles south west of cambridge

and yes all the boxes should fit in a landrover with ease....
