At Goodwood recently and I saw this car, built from kit and owned from new by the owner. Its Lotus colour is Burnt Sand, not many Elans in this colour.

It was not a popular colour. Some folk call it Cardboard.
From memory, it was only available for some three odd years.
Tim
Edit to add: Available from mid 67 to Oct 70. It was actually a Porsche colour, Sand.

There's a Triumph colour called Sandglow which is similar. I had a Spitfire in it which I rather liked.

Basically, it is Sahara Beige - a colour of the day that was the kiss of death on anything it adorned
Then they rebranded it, as above, Sandglow. I did not now that Lotus adopted the colour as well

My silver Plus 2 next to Miles’s car (and some others) as we wait to go out on track for the Lotus 75th Anniversary Parade at Goodwood.

There's an S3 DHC matching that colour that makes an appearance in this video (@1.25)

I have a bonnet w/ original burnt sand paint on it that I bought from DSN Lotos in the late 1970's to use on my Super Safety. when I thought the bubble bonnet on it was incorrect. Since then, of course I have determined that I have the correct one fitted to it, but now I have a 3rd S3 that may need it, so it's not for sale.
But if some one wanted to borrow it for a color scan, I'd be willing to help.

Zetec+ 2 under const, also 130S. And another 130S for complete restoration. Previously Racing green +2s with green tints. Yellow +2 and a couple of others, all missed. Great to be back 04/11/2021 although its all starting to get a bit out of control.

This was a popular hue in the late 60ties/ early 70ties: My late mother’s 1968 280 SL has a similar color, Sahara Beige / Cognac Leather. Since he is no longer able to drive it on a regular basis, my 86 years old father gave it to me last year. But it is still at my fathers garage 140 miles away, as I haven’t found a suitable garage so far.
