E-bay......

PostPost by: nomad » Sun Jun 12, 2022 1:15 am

I think I have officially made my last purchase on E-bay. It has become a haven for thieves and no longer offers ANY assistance for victims. Purchased a clutch master and slave from "jumblemaster" in England that should have arrived the 10th of May. Apparently not allowed to track it or can I get a response from the seller. Apparently can't even get help from the barely fluent English speaker on the other side of the world that used to be under the employment of E-bay.
When E-bay was fairly new I had a seller disappear on me. At that time I got live assistance from an AMERICAN employee who contacted the sellers local police. When they knocked on the sellers door he reappeared.
Oh for the good old days.
At any rate I doubt I'll ever see the supposedly shipped package nor will I get any help from E-bay. If you have stock in them I suggest you dump it.

Yes, Rohan, I think I have bought from them before. Three messages supposedly sent through E-bay have gone unanswered and, I guess, E-bays tracking is down. If you can't track the package?????

Jumblemaster/MEV , I had a problem with them , wasn't resolved so left negative feedback , he didn't take kindly to that and blocked me....

To balance your view, I've bought things from Jumblemaster in the past and it's been ok. I think you've got to read the descriptions carefully and know what you're buying, but as for things arriving, that's not been an issue.

I've no affiliation nor do I "follow" the seller but I'd not give up just yet for a couple of reasons. Firstly, I looked at one of his ads and apparently he's away until the 15th June ;

So if the guy is abroad there's every chance he's not checked his mail. I know lots of folks use their phones for email but I'm one of those dinosaurs who only use a PC, so maybe he's the same. You could try the contact form through their own website in case he's got someone monitoring the business and see if you get any joy that way.

Secondly, Ebay tracking, IMO, is hopeless. The Royal Mail tracking can be depending on the carriage method, I've had tracking that says "can only track when delivered", so you'll only know when it's been delivered to the wrong address, not when it's arriving. I've never had faith in them, independent couriers usually are far better at letting you know where your package is up to.

Key thing to remember with Ebay is that you must raise a claim within 60 days. If the item doesn’t have a tracking number or the seller can’t provide tracking number details the seller is automatically liable if it hasn’t arrived within that time. Leave it until after that and you’ve automatically forfeited your case. Always pay using PayPal even if you are picking it up in person. The Ebay rules generally work well but you need to make yourself aware of what they are and sometimes that only happens with experience - good and bad!

Talking of Fleabay rules , have just finished banging my head against the wall , Bid, won and paid for an item , a few days later the seller asked why Fleabay had stopped the payment , after a nonsensical helper in Utah was unable to explain I tried a second time to be told " the rules have changed , if the seller is " new " , Fleabay withold the payment till the buyer leaves good feedback...."

So I had to ask the seller to contact them to check the " new rules" ???

And then send the item before they receive payment...

If only they had made that clear to both seller and vendor prior to purchase....

I’m not really sure what you are complaining about. It’s just a further process to protect you. Seller should have the common sense not to send the item until payment received. This process has been in place for quite a while now for new sellers. It’s doesn’t block payment. Payment passing through to them is just delayed for a few days and it’s not linked to whether or not you provide feedback. Ebay cops a lot of flack here but I’m not going to defend it too much. The less shoppers there are the more stuff that’s left for me!!

Kurt,
I have bought a few bits and pieces from MEV Spares who I know trades as 'jumblemaster' on E-bay. I always deal direct with MEV, i.e. I pick up the phone and talk to them. I have never had a problem.
Have you tried calling them on the phone direct to try and resolve the problem?

Edit:- Sorry, Just realised you are in the USA so not so easy to call. However I would still try getting in touch with Mev Spares directly to resolve things as aposed to dealing through ebay.

Was not aware that a claim has to be made within 60 days. That date is rapidly approaching. Far more support here than I am getting from E-bay!

Yes it does take a few experiences to learn the Ebay ropes. If there's any issue immediately through Ebay hit "request a return" and do it before the 60 days are up. That way it's locked into the Ebay system.

Don't let sellers try to talk you around to not "requesting a return" and to resolve it informally or as some do to try and ask you to close the return and to work it out some other way or lie and say they have already or will post a replacement so to close the return in the meantime.

Don't whatever you do close the return until you've physically received the item and are happy with it. If things get difficult Ebay makes the call.
