Paul's signature on Glovebox

PostPost by: elanfan1 » Mon Sep 14, 2020 9:31 am

I’ve been trying to see whether Paul Brian is still about (bearing in mind if he was 25 at the time he’d be about 80 now!). I can find nothing in the PE33 postcode where he last appeared on the electoral roll around 2010 (which isn’t good in itself). I’ve somewhat morbidly checked for obituaries nothing. I’ve also tried to find Carl and Bryan Grunhill who appeared to live with him. An unusual name but nothing in the phone book nor Facebook etc which is odd.

Unless anyone else is a better sleuth than me I think we might have hit a brick wall. Shame as I’m sure he could have identified some of the other signatories and maybe they could have contributed to this fascinating and historical thread.

I'll ask Warren King. There was a Lotus old boys club, but I don't know if it still meets.

Was Paul at Lotus in the early 90’s? If so could he have been assembling the C36GET engines for the Carlton/Omega line?

Another signature.

Anybody know what the access grommet is for? I'm new to Sprints.

It's to get at the far end of the bonnet release cable. The grommet is a b***er to replace!

I am in the middle of replacing my interior wiring loom and dash. My glove box was signed by someone who, unfortunately, had much worse penmanship than Paul. 8801 is my VIN number. Did anyone else with an early '69 Elan have their box signed by this person? Any clue as to his or her identity?
