Maybe. The mystery continues. Among the many interesting things with Lotus, the signing of gloveboxes is pretty cool.

Apparently this was a common practice in the British motor industry since the back of the dash on Sprites and Midgets is commonly signed as well. Like to think it was done as a sign of pride in their work!

Not just the British motor industry- back in the 1960s and '70s the pinstriping on BMW motorcycles was done by a group of middle-aged women at the factory (motorradfrau?), and they frequently left their initials on the underside of the fuel tank. Surviving examples are of course much-loved items these days.
