My Elan is finally on the road

Hi Guys,

I have been lurking here for a while, reading much and asking a few questions. I purchased a one owner S3 FHC last May and have spent most of my time between now and then getting everything fixed / over hauled / looking nice and how I want it. I'm not a purest I'm afraid, as I have changed a few things to bring the car a bit more up to date and get it how I wanted it to be. I had the carbs and ignition setup last week, so now just need some nice weather so I can get out there and start enjoying it.

I rebuilt the engine, overhauled the gearbox, overhauled the prop and drive shafts, gave the diff a going over too. I completely rewired and re plumbed it and I've redone the interior with a black headlining and made my own new dash with a few more gauges in etc.

A few pics of my car below.

You are surely not going to run about in the car without any airbox Sean, are you?

No, the airbox is on now, i just don't have a picture. I've also swapped the blue anodised 90 degree fuel fittings for all black ones as the blue was messing with my head.

Just out of interest Sean, who did the carbs and ignition set-up for you ?

Northamptonshire Motorsport. Great service. Have been using them for years. They really know their carbs and will happily spend time changing stuff and experimenting.

I've heard good things about them. Do you recall what the final power output was once they'd finished with it ?

superb! I love the bodywork (including 4 mounting perspex... what headlights are you using?) color is quite nice, though looks just a tad dark to me (harder to keep clean ... and may show defects more - but you may have none...)

now ... keep it on the road !
