Whilst I am sure Mark will willingly answer your questions, or anyone else for that matter, do you really think that you are asking them in the right place, on his excellent thread?

Come on man, start your own thread and delete your post, and I will delete mine. Thank you.

How does the hood tray fit onto the DHC body? How does the hood fit to the top of the windscreen frame, is there some kind of metal facing for the top of the windscreen that the hood clips into? I think there are ears on each end of the front face of the hood that press stud onto the A-post. I need to fit these press studs into my A-posts too, which will scare me!

I take it the grille can be sourced at (for example) Mick Miller Lotus? Does it just fit with self tappers drilled into the body?

Thank you
Ian

Hi Ian
The hood tray is simply fastened to the body with the Tenax fasteners that go round it at the back, and then with a few special fasteners that attach it at the front to the upright bit of hardboard behind the rear carpet! These special fasteners are known as the twin screws that pushe through both the tray and the hardboard and the aluminium trim piece and a screw comes in from the other side to fasten it up. They are available from Sue Miller (and others for sure).

There is a metal facing that is riveted to the top of the frame, and indeed you will have to drill the top of the windscreen frame to fit the press stud. You will also need the nylon 'bobbin' on each end of the metal facing that the hood cant rail slides into.

The grill is held on to the body with 4 long spire clips. They slip onto the 4 spaces on the grill, push over the panel and screwed in place with a self tapper. Again, available from Sue.

I managed to save my original grill, but i know they are available.

I've put some photos up to try and make more sense of my ramblings!

Thank you very much for the detailed reply. I will approach Sue now knowing a bit more about what I am asking her about
Congratulations on your lovely Elan and for documenting your progress, it has been a useful reference for me.
