Machine shops - Daytona Beach, Florida

PostPost by: benymazz » Thu Aug 22, 2019 12:49 am

Hello all,

Recently moved to the Daytona Beach, Florida area and I have a Twin Cam cylinder head that needs a major overhaul. New guides and seats and valves. Does anyone know of a good machine shop in the area, or better yet a shop that has seen one of these heads before?

I also need the block taken out to +0.020 but I would think that's harder to screw up.

Thanks,

Not in Daytona Beach area but I see people ship heads from all over the country to a local shop near me called Eagle Automotive. I've had them do my Alfa Romeo and Opel head. They do a lot of Jaguar head as well. I haven't asked about the Twin Cam but if we ever do any engine out work on our car, the head is going straight to Eagle.

I cannot personally vouch for his engine-machining as I haven't had him do any, but Bob Wagner down in the Atlanta metro area is a classic Lotus expert; I can give you his number if you'd like to speak with him. If he can't do it he'll probably know who can in the southeast. I live near Eagle Automotive and while I do not have relevant experience with them either, I have heard nothing but good about their abilities. If you wind-up traveling up this way get anything done let me know if you'd like to meet up for a pint.

NO LOTUS CONTENT

I guess "The Best Damned Garage in Town" is no longer there. Belonged to Smokey Yunick the famed NASCAR driver and car builder.

Sorry, just an old memory.
