Elan Registry - Update

For a bunch of geeky tech reasons I needed to redo the Elan Registry. I have a test version that has the basics working and should make it easier to add new fields and features in the future. I'd like to get some feedback before I get much further along.

The data is, mostly, copied from the main site and will be destroyed and refreshed before going to production. Feel free to add or update just to try it out.
User accounts have been copied but all passwords are reset. Please use the Forgot Password link at the bottom of the Login page. The username and email are the same as on the current registry
After you login you can give feedback using the Feedback link at the top of the page

The test site is at: http://test.elanregistry.org/

Pending requests are all documented on Github the most notable are:
Add additional fields for each car
    Multiple picture upload
    Better field validation

Thanks in advance for the feedback,

Jim

The data on my car is all wrong. I found my serial number, but then my personal data is blank. I assume when you said "mostly copied over" that mine wasn't. Lastly the link column has been removed.

Hi Jim,

Thanks for the work on this important resource.

I'm not sure if it is relevant at this point but if I search on my name one of my cars displays correctly but the other car associated with my name is not mine. When I click on the details it indicates the true owner of that chassis number is Mike Geiger. I was unable to find the listing for my other Elan.

Is there a way to retain the order on subsequent sorts so that one can zero in on a specific vehicle? If I could sort first on year, then sort on chassis number on the second sort for example I might be able to find my other car. Alternatively could a filter function be added? One could then set the year, type, series or variant to zero in on specific cars.

I did finally find my second car by entering only the chassis number but my personal data was missing. I did not see an Edit function.

Thanks again,

Don

I've been playing with the data so some of the linkages are wrong. I'll do a more recent refresh to get things linked correctly so we can look for data issues.

"Is there a way to retain the order on subsequent sorts"
- I'll add that to the list. It's doable but want to see if there are more urgent items

"Link is removed"
- This will be back. I removed it for now as I need to do some validation prior to display and haven't worked on that test

"I did not see an Edit function."
- You need to login. Once logged in you are taken to a page that shows both your account information as well as your car information. There is a button on top of the car allowing you to Edit the car. I'll ad some help documentation

Hi there, thank for the work in maintaining the registry.

I've had a look and can find my cars, I'm not able to get operational feedback page or the account pages when i clock on them.

I'd be interested to know if you've allowed past owners to be added to a cars record and pictures, and ability create a link of who the car is sold to extend a cars history. As an example I owned 5416 which I sold to Gordon who' sold it to Andre who ironically is the person who i bought the car as a project from, this history is not apparent. At very least to have the who it was purchased from start the build of future history.

I like being able to add additional pictures but was unable to see this option.

Happy to pop back in a play whenever you need some testing time.

Vaughan

thank you for this very valuable tool !

a detail I just noted : whenever entering an incomplete date (if for exemple the exact day or month is unknow) or no date (e.g. no yet sold) the system puts in arbitrary values.

quite interesting to see multiple cars with the same identity, too...

Did you reset your password and login? If you did and they are not listed on your account page what is your username so I can check.

This is on the todo list

This on the future list but not yet implemented

Oh Dear, I do not recall at all when I made my entry in the Elan Registry, though I am pretty sure I did.

Is it possible for you to look up the date (on the old registry) on which registered so I can check over my emails and logbooks at that time to find which email address I used?

Hi,
My car is there but I cannot log in as I cannot change my password as I have changed my email address.
Cheers

I tried resetting the password using the email address that you PMed to me, but the reset email does not arrive. Tried twice.

Oh forget that the email just arrived somewhat Late...

Original registration was on 24/6/2010, I found the emails, but alas it seems I did not write any additional information in my logbook that day.

LATER:
Have now checked my entry on the trial registry and all seems correct.

I can't find this in the log but will continue to monitor.

I'm fixing a few problems today and will do a refresh of the data to do a final sanity check before converting.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

I've fixed the most serious issues and done a data refresh. Please have a look and let me know if you find anything else. I'm particularly interested in data issue that may have been introduced in the conversion.
