is it worth getting out a mirror , a bright light and a sharp pointy object?
I mean look at the reverse of your front panel and you'll probably notice a couple of bobbles of filler where it has been filled in the past !.
If you then judiciously pick off/ out the filler, hey presto ! you'll have the original holes again!
If you try and drill new holes you might run into the edges of the originals making the resulting holes rather bigger than plannned .....

Try looking in the grille opening at the under side. You may be able to see where the holes were filled.
