You see why I abandoned my book on "special Elans"?!

There seem to have been several types of 26/R headlight/bumper configurations:
Bog standard flip up lights and standard bumper.
Standard flip-ups and shortened bumper.
Flip-ups and narrow bumper.
Chinese-eye and narrow bumper.
Chinese-eye and standard bumper.
Clear cover over standard aperture and standard bumper.
Clear cover and narrow bumper.

The narrow bumper cars had the wider wheel arches.

Above were "factory" cars... add to this the ones with 7" lights and cut-out standard bumpers (somehow a French one got thro' regulations at Le Mans- how did that happen?).

So it goes on... I could tell you about the lights under the covers but, that's another story.

The original lamp units, surrounds and buckets are Lucas L462, I've managed to purchase spares on ebay.

Pete, Greme, Everyone,

I love this thread. I've looked at 26R lights for decades, (of course I didn't have a camera), and wondered what was factory, and what was not. And the differences in the Perspex covers, and the attachment points, etc.

I would love to see more pics and learn more! Not only the lights and the covers but also the backing support structures that hold these beauties!!!

If anyone runs across a set of the Lucas lights, please let me know.

More pics, more knowledge, ................. please!

Frank
