Elan S2 reassembly video part 1

PostPost by: PaulH » Sat Dec 15, 2018 8:08 am

I've posted a video on YouTube showing the start of my Elan reassembly having received the painted body. Maybe of interest:

I've put part 1 in the title; wonder how many sequels I might end up with?

Thank you Paul. Very enjoyable and useful.

I have learnt quite a few important details which help me to plan ahead as my project came without a bodyshell!

Nicely done Paul. I didn?t have the patience to video record my rebuild several years ago. This will be a big help for anyone doing the same.

Brilliant. Thank you for posting this PaulH I am at a similar point in assembling a S2 (frankentwincam) and was scratching my head over the wiper assembly. Somewhere I must have the drive tubes in a box... Can anyone tell me where the little X10 x 1/2" nylon bolts and nuts belong (they were bagged with the wiper wheel boxes, and their fasteners...)
cheers, Andrew

Possibly on the curves where the bonnet pivots.....I think they are the only nylon nuts & bolts I can recall......there should also be 2 off steel nuts & bolts with very thin bolt heads which attach to the support brackets that support this "curved" area......they are the only place I think they can come from...

Hope that helps

Paul,

Thanks so much for taking the time/trouble to post these videos. They are a big visual aid to those of us who have not yet pulled their cars apart. I look forward to the next installment. Your Medici Blue paint is lovely, almost the same shade as my French Blue with your garage lighting.
