Hi guys,
I am in the process of buying a 1970 S4 DHC and was wondering if there is any way to check the chassis number against any factory records? It's just a matter of interest and has no influence on the purchase.
The No. is 459822 Reg VBD 724H
Interestingly I new this car back in the late 70's when a friend of mine owned it, it's had a colour change since then for the better I might add.
I bought my first Elan, an S4 DHC in 1978 followed by a Sprint FHC in 1998 (both sold) and now an S4 in 2018...seems to be a pattern developing :)
I should take delivery in the next 2/3 weeks and looking forward to owning an Elan again.
Thanks
Dale.

Contact the Lotus factory Archive. The email addr is on the Lotus site. The archivist is very helpful :-)
