I agree, very pretty at first look, but---

No spare wheel, just a gunge squirter.
No boot floor or sides.
Is that yellow box the battery and why put it high up.
No bumper chrome strip.
The engine bay should be black.
The sills should be black.
No air intake grille.
Those headlamps look awful from the front. That would take a lot of work to put right even if you could match the paint colour. I wonder if the radiator is in the way of a headlamp lift mechanism.

I'll be in Berkeley in a couple of weeks, maybe I'll get over there to check it out. I've never seen a $70G Elan.

......at 70 grand it'd have to be all original and not a concoction. HOWEVER the doors look better than almost all of the others i've seen! --------------- that's probably where the extra 30Gs come from  sandy PS - awful steering wheel!

It will probably be listed forever, just like the $1000 Brian Buckland book.

I saw this car in Kim Bakers garage/shop/office a few months back. It is an extremely clean car built with "a cost is no issue" attitude, "in the style of a 26R". It was built to a very high spec and a superb finish inside, outside and underneath, and details specific to the tastes of the owner with some 26R features and some unique features like the doors modified "roadster style" with no side windows. The door tops were fully molded to fill in the openings, and while unique and custom, had a factory look and finish. While it was a superb looking build it was too much like my S3 and not enough like a 26R for my own tastes, but certainly it was/is a very well built car, and the original owner likely spent more to built it than the price for which he sold it to the first dealer.
