Weber air corrector jets

PostPost by: richardcox_lotus » Sat Jun 03, 2017 7:02 pm

So here's a good one. Had a spare hour today so thought I'd look to see what carb settings were on my Weber Sprint. Carbs are the 151s that I've been using for several years.

It seems that I have book value Main Jets; Emulsion tubes; pump jets & idle jets.

Except for the air corrector jet ONLY feeding cylinder #1. Book has it at 155, this one is stamped 200 !! The others are 155.

I do sometimes see plug #1 look lean but put that down to the servo take-off at that end of the intake manifold.

It spits back a bit on overrun, but not under throttle load.

So I'll order a replacement but wonder if anyone can give an explanation as to why it might have been changed ??

Regards
Richard

Select one of the following:
"Damn that 155 rolled under the bench somewhere... what can we put in here..."
"Can any see my reading glasses...?"
"That plug on number one looks a little dark, why don't we try..."
"Nawe, air correctors don't really do anything do they?"

Look carefully at the hole and compare it to the others, jets used to cost lots of money, I was paying ?2.50 a jet back in the 80's, they are less than that now.

Consequently many rolling road operators would drill out jets or if they were stuck solder up the hole and redrill, someone may have done that if they lost or damaged one jet.

When I recently came across my baccy tin of jets I thought it could be my pension, I was dismayed to find how cheap they are now.
