Lotus Elan and Lotus Elan Plus 2 Forums

I this months Classic Car magazine there is a one page article on Elans by F1 designer Gordon Murray. It basically says what a perfectly designed sportscar it is in every respect. A great endorsement from such a brilliant engineer and 6ft 4" in height!!

.................it gets even better -- just to remind some of you elderly real freaks: when said mr murray was developing the F1 McLaren ROAD CAR, he got intervieweded by one of those mags (not autosport or it. autosprint, which we were forced to read?) and when asked which was his favourate cars it was the elan AND what he thought of the mx5: it looks like a whale compared to an ELAN!! sandy - an elderly chap!!

Can somebody post a link or scan it for the Colonies ?

I also recall him saying at the time he did the F1 that he was satisfied with every aspect of it, apart from the steering which, whilst very good, was still not as good as his Elan.

It would be good if someone could post up the article but if not the above link provides an opportunity to buy a digital edition of the mag. Think there's an offer of a ?1 subscription on the right side bar too.

The nice things British about Vancouver Island;

-The continent (North America) and the province (British Columbia) is a long 30 mile swim away.

- The very British city of Victoria is here (BC's capital)

- Most interestingly it inherited the political moniker of LOTUS LAND about 60 years ago - I believe due to the socialist legislature snack servings back then.
