Jim, actually I should have said monotone Lagoon Blue- that's what I always wanted from the first time I saw one (which might even have been yours, the first time you owned it!). The was a lovely girl in Alderley with a very late blue/white one (M-reg) at the time I had my JPS S4SE (about '76- the year, not her age), we used to pull over and have chats, often about what had fallen off that week.
When I went looking for my current Sprint I could not find a blue one anywhere, so got the yellow/white banana split; red/white being a bit too Manchester United for me.
Interesting how many folks are voting Lagoon- is it not?

[quote="Elanintheforest"]And now I wonder what one would look like in orange! They are nearly all black, solver or grey, so one of those could be sacrificed to be wrapped.

Well, Indigo Blue does it for me!
But I think mine looks splendid just as it is, so no two tone for me.

However, if we're talking Sprints and getting back OT, I'd go for Colorado Orange over white rather than the Lotus Yellow over white. Yellow over white was in fact the most popular original Sprint colour, not the now more ubiquitous red over white.

It is interesting that Lagoon seems to have found favor, when I've always assumed it was a rare colour on 2 seat cars....Tim, any numbers?
Lagoon makes a car looks more sophisticated somehow, which works really well on the late Plus 2 but not for the Sprint.. I don't think that the darker colours suit the 2 seat Elan very well either, so it's still the brighter cheeky colours for me!
Although conversely, the Plus 2 looks stunning in orange, yellow or red.
Love the XK Tim...of course.

No, don't go there Alan!
Regarding numbers of Lagoon Blue Sprints, Mark, as you know we can only really be accurate for home market unit numbers from 0501G and 0501E to production end.
For DHCs there were 398 cars produced between Oct 71 and Feb 73. 61 were Lagoon Blue which is approx. 15%. Of those 61, 17 were mono coloured.
For FHCs there were 164 cars produced between Jul 72 and Feb 73. 32 were Lagoon Blue which is approx. 20%. Of those 32, 11 were mono coloured.
From my records, the most popular standard original colours were:
First ? Lotus Yellow
Second ? Carnival Red
Third ? Lagoon Blue
Fourth ? Colorado Orange
The least popular standard original colours were:
First ? White
Second - Regency Red (Maroon)
Third ? Pistachio Lime Green
Fourth ? Ford Tawny

Plus 2s just look stunning.
Although I'll admit some yellow bias!

I also have a car which is a similar colour but it's called Roman Bronze also a Ford colour.
Sorry but it's a 1975 TVR 3000M Roman Bronze with a Beige Vinyl roof.
The body will need spraying in the New Year and maybe Tawny will be better.
I still like my Lagoon Sprint which i will keep

I see the rear part of the stripe is above the rear bumper.
On my Sprint i put half the height of the stripe above the rear bumper.
Question are both cars correct.
Now the replies are going to be interresting
