Just to let everyone know that while I search for my next early Elan project (S1 orS2) I bought a '72 Europa to restore. 5359 original miles.

Looks like your restoration bug is now chronic ;-) . Perhaps you will have the pleasure of replacing the door hinges it's a right of passage in the europa tribe -

Looks like a great project, bizarre British plate though from 1967 ish...far too early for this car.

Drew and I have complementing skills and enjoy working together on these cars. Something new with the Europa. Didn't know about the plate Phil, had no idea of the story behind it, it came with the car. Interesting that it predates the car.

The plate could "belong" to the car. In the UK you can swap out the registrations on vehicles if you want, as long as the registration is not "newer" than the car. So this could be a "private" paste from a previous UK owner that happen to match his initials or something.

Glen, It looks like a nice project. Was it in good enough shape to drive it before buying it?
