v5 question

Hi there
I've been looking for a really wizzy elan and I've found an ex-hillclimb one that could be a good fit for me. I'd need to tone it down for the road which I'm ok with. However, its been built (very well) as a race car and is on a v5 from a plus 2. This bothers me a bit as its clearly not an original car, etc. But I wonder to what extent I should really care about that. So I'm wondering how common that sort of thing is in the elan world and whether others would think its a complete no-no. Anyone have any thoughts on the matter?
Many thanks

Of course it's a problem. Something dodgy has happened in the past. From what you are saying it is an Elan rather than a Plus 2 which is an entirely different car. If something serious were to happen and you and the car were investigated by the Police or insurers you might find yourself with your insurance voided or worse.
I'd avoid it in your position. Take your time something that suits you better will come up.
