I just dug through my magazines and found a Lotus Club International magazine from June 2005 with a write up on the 5500 mile London-Dakar rally in their Elan. You have to admire them for doing what they do, in a car clearly not designed for that kind of abuse.

They have posted in various places about their exploits.

The London-Dakar may be the most interesting. So many dedicated cars expired on the route, but they made it. Elans are tough cars.

Hi guys, yes we are still here (and posting) I hope you enjoy reading about our journeys. We have two planned for 2016 - North Cape of Norway and then through Turkey and Iran.
Yes we got our story into Club Lotus International once but they do all appear in the UK Club Lotus News - the next one will be in April when we will be on the front cover.
If you live in the East of England we do give talks to Lotus and Porsche clubs in Norfolk - and have been known to venture outside the County!
We also have articles from time to time in British Car Marques magazine in the USA. I would like to get the car to the USA and spend some time driving round some of the great places there.
Best wishes
Peter, Allison and "Owl"

If you come to USA, you should swing through Atlanta (quite a few Lotus enthusiasts here), and from here you can go right into the roads of Southern Appalachia which are a real treat! The Wolf Pen Gap Road in northern Georgia will leave you with a big stoopid grin, and that's just one of the exciting ones. Let me know when you're on the way.

EDIT: also, swing by Leeds Alabama two hours west of here. The Barber Motorsports Museum has the best collection of Racing Loti outside the UK.

On a slightly different note (but still belonging in this thread, I think) this car, I was told, was a Rallye
car back in the day. You UK guys know this car? Or the model? What car?

She looks a bit like actress (sorry.. they are all "Actors" these days, Luvvie) Susan George. Probably a wrong guess.

Somewhere I have a set of VHS tapes of a series called The Sins (I think). This featured the late Pete Postlethwaite as a recidivist who, finally, was released and one of his family has kept his silver Elan for that day. Could this be a publicity shot from that series? If so, my Susan George theory is way off, as she would be a granny by that time.

WHERE IS RICK SELBY WHEN WE NEED HIM?

Confirmed as Susan George via google reverse image search.
