Tim. Just popped the one out of my 71-Sprint, chassis 0250G. Doesn't quiet match our
theory, as this is a 69, and the car is April-71. Does not mean that we are totally wrong though as likelihood is Lotus would just have use the next one on the shelf or in the box, so could have been from an older batch, or even changed by someone at a later date.

Well I'm not getting too worked up about it. I'll put it down to just another Lotus anomaly. There's a lot of them!

Did an archaeological dig and found my old one. Its marked 0872 so may not be original but since the green and gold ones were expensive and hard to come by its being replaced by another black one!

Apparently different serial numbers. Mine is the same as Fred's 33637A.

The Lucas no. on the horn button is 33668B 2371

I am certainly going to make at least a "mistake" and perhaps a deep insult to all lotus fans and purists but I ask to my self ...are all early steering wheels "Springall" and if answer is "no" where is the difference and why? Anyway merry Christmas To the whole lotus community and sorry once again for so poor english..

John - Phil

My button Lucas # 33668B 2671.

Wheel is dished - spokes at 3,6,9 o'clock - black leather rim with solid plastic thumb guards riveted thru metal tabs on the back side at rim ends of the spokes.
