Hi there,I am just returning to Lotus ownership after many years away from the marque.I have raced, restored and owned all types of Loti before. As I now live in France have just negotiated a deal to purchase a Sprint from The Hairpin Car Company. The car is a 72 yellow over white, previously registered R100,and belonged to someone named Rob Wilson. Can anyone please confirm if they know anything of this car,as I am unable to travel to see it at the moment. Many thanks for your anticipated help in advance.Regards Roy.

Hi Roy and welcome back to Lotus ownership and welcome to here. Always good to see another Sprint here!

If you want to know more about Sprints in particular, please have a look at my site, below. With regard to your new acquisition, I may well have some additional information on your car, but not under it's current R 100 registration. If you could let me know the VIN and or old registration number, that would be helpful.

Interesting wiper arms. They're screwed down onto something.

Good morning Roy,

My thoughts are with the people of France this morning, with the awful news from over night.

If you have just negotiated, but not paid any monies over to the Hairpin Co yet, you might want to hold off for a while. They are known, to me, as having good, but expensive cars.

R100 looks pretty, but there are many things that are not correct with the car. As pointed out, what is going on with the wipers. The washer bottle not correct. The ariel in a wierd place. Ridiculous ugly radiator, unnecessary if all related areas are in good order with the standard rad and cooling system. Small things, but at the price I seem to remember it for sale at, I think you could do better if you are patient.

Keep well over there.

Leslie

Hello, they have had this car for an age, when it first came on to the market I believe it was over 40k. I would be of the same opinion as 512bb.
all the best

I have wiper arms like that on my Seven, the screw pulls a tapered block onto the splines.

If you are concerned about 'originality' don't forget it's a Spyder chassis not a Lotus factory one, although they don't say if it's the pressed steel or space frame type.. I imagine most of the other changes would be pretty simple to change back to 'factory original' ... :D

the wiper arms are no problem and the same as Chris Neils used to supply, sorry to say but that is an anorak detail
Imho the car does look very nice and the price you pay is your business. There are many dealers who put high prices and all that matters is if you are happy.
Have fun driving it
