Regency Red Baby Elans

Are there any other Elan owners who have painted their cars in Regency Red like myself? If so it would be great to have some photos on the forum gallery.

Here are a couple of Elans painted in LO 11 Regency Red; it was listed as 'Maroon' in the 1971 colour brochure. It was introduced by Lotus at the 1970 Motor Show and was used up until the end of production. It was the second least popular colour for Sprints.

Not sure that the top photo is RR as it appears to be metallic and too light.

I know it seems like that, but colour reproduction is so tricky on t'internet.

I've got a Regency Red S4 (horrible colour) and it's not the same as either of Tim's but is the same as cabc26b's.

I'm led to believe that it is a Jaguar colour but I've failed to find a touch-up which is an exact match. :)

I painted a jag Regency Red a couple of months ago and as there was 3 different versions with at least 8 different variants each it doesn't surprise me you find it hard to get a good touch up. (btw there is a Metallic version too that went on the 90's jags)

It's a pain to match well, we had to custom tint to get an acceptable match.

Have to say it looked more like cabc26b 's car than either of the pictures trw99 put up but as said might just be how its been taken or a later version it did change allot over the years.

LO 11 Regency Red, introduced Oct 70, called Maroon in brochure, also known as Burgundy. A Jaguar colour.

Pinchin Johnson Ref: 6170Y5960; Lotus Part No A036B6356V
ICI Ref: P0309053; Lotus Part No B036B6356V
Neither of the above available now.

Nexa Autocolour Ref 9053
PPG Ref 71791
Both the above apparently still available.

This is the second version (50-60-70's) of regency red but as i say there is a number of shades of it, this was matched to colour found under the carpets so is as correct as possible.

JAGUAR REGENCY RED / ROUGE REGENCE Colour code 257/TDD 1958-1979
10371398_999248350092896_8093149644489964397_n.jpg and

The colour used on Lotus's may well be called Maroon but it's had its name changed by lotus, if you select the colour 'Maroon' in Jag it will be much darker and looking at the colour chip similar to trw99's second picture (there is also three different Maroon's in my colour books going back to pre war and again there was a opalescent and metallic versions later on) i don't see it being Jaguar burgundy as from my books it started being used in 1978.
