Well, many months on and thank you for all of the advice, most of all to previous owner Jeff, whose work has created this fantastic S1 with lots of racing pedigree in Australia.

Back in the UK, MOT'd, UK registered and ready for the roads...

Thanks David,

would love a copy of those shed shots for posterity.

I miss it every time I see a photograph

Pity the plate could not incorporate NUA 222

Hi Jeff

Amazing car, thank you!

Have left the NUA 222 small plate on the bonnet and am trying to track down NUA 222 on a car in the UK, it may be out there!

Will send over some garage shots, it is living in an air chamber over the winter!!

S1 now fully road legal and planning a trip to Castle Combe in 10 days time - amazing previous owner Jeff, who restored the car in Australia, has confirmed 29000 miles from new on original chassis - looking forwards to getting it on track again, reliving the glory days in Queensland!

S1 made it onto the track today at Castle Combe.

Thanks to all those who came over and said hello - Jeff, if you are reading this, the general view was that people thought what you had achieved with all of the time, effort and passion, was fantastic.

My first time at a Club Lotus track day - have done general track events before, this one was much, much better - great friendly people, a nice quiet track environment and a lovely range of cars.

For me David it was the car of the show, and a huge credit to Jeff who restored it in Brisbane. Stunning bodywork and paint, fantastic attention to detail, early Bourne body car, low miles, original chassis and a race history with 100 odd photos. It really doesn't get any better,

Thanks Mark - it was great to meet you and thanks again for the advice along the way.

Delighted to have been able to share the car with some (new) UK friends, Jeff ('Mazlot') - a car saved and invaluable contribution to keeping some of the oldest ones in play!

Realised tonight it has done almost as many miles at sea (c26,000) as it has done on land (c29,000)!!

Hi David,

Love the car on track, wish I was there to see it run around.

Hopefully nothing fell off

Hilarious mileage calculation

Hi Jeff

I did promise you it would revisit the track!

It was great, thank you, nothing fell off, speedo said 95mph for a very brief moment, the rest was quite (but not too) fast (1) because you can't replace an original chassis and (2) I know my limits!!
