Possibly of interest to some: Attached (hopefully) is an excel spreadsheet of various weights measured over some period of time. I tried to remember to weigh components on removal or assembly, done with a small scale or household scale so not dead accurate but close.
Happy to update the list if you have items to add or different weights for the same items, ( more data improves accuracy ). I have included items from the 7 as many components are the same as an Elan as all of you know.
If there are other lists around let me know.

Just had my S2 on corner weights and surprisingly it worked out at 700 kilos (fully loaded, oil, full tank of fuel, spare wheel, tools and hood). A few days later did the same to my S3 S/E dhc and it was only twenty kilos or so heavier!

Thanks for posting the spreadsheet. I notice you list rim weights as 15 lb and tyre weights as 15lb. I have 4.5 inch std Lotus knock-off rims on the front of my S3 SE and 5.5 inch rear rims. I'm running Uniroyal RainExpert 155-80 13 front tyres and 165-80 13 rears. I weighed each component before putting them on the car and got 13 lb for each rim (4.5 and 5.5) and 12.5 lb for the 155-80 and 15 lb for the 165-80 tyres respectively. Are you using non-stock rims and what tyres are you running? Just curious.

Mazzini, thanks for the total weight confirmation, I was wondering if the book was accurate.
Galwaylotus, I agree with your wheel numbers, dug a lotus steel wheel from the shed, they are bolt on but agreed closely with your weight. I fitted Minilites as the steel ones no longer true and didn't tighten properly on the hubs. Tires on Elan are Toyo 155 80 13 (one of the few brands I could find in the size), and total just a bit more than yours, ( guess my old notes on the wheels were poor ) the 7 has 180 70 13 on unusual nla brand wider alloys.
It would be nice to compile a complete list; as a racing bicycle, cost per pound to reduce weight is dramatic. Not that I am planning to on the Elan, just academic interest.

When I weighed my S3 SE DHC around 1984, it weighted exactly 700kg with 6" and 7" Wolfrace slot mags fitted with 205 and 225 Dunlop Sports, dry sump tank, roll bar, LSD and solid driveshafts. Do the same series bodies differ in weight much?

Forgot to mention my S2 has a Voigt 5 speed box, Quaife ATB, CV driveshafts and a foam filled tank.

700 kgs seems to be popular

My S4 FHC is 700kg as I race it.
i.e.
No spare / no tools
15 L fuel in fuel cell
Alloy wheels and 175/60 x 13 tyres
Alloy roll bar and 1kg extinguisher
Standard seats /trim etc and no other lightweight components or standard component removal
Chassis and body standard and the body has a fair few repairs and resulting thick areas
