Hello to all, not been on here is a while, but I'm back with my S4 Elan, picked it up yesterday :D I'd almost forgotten how small they are, later today I'll compare it size wise to my Caterham

Come on Dorsal, tell us the story. You picked it up from where, looks like from restoration to me ? 6 posts in 12 years, you are a man of few words.

Welcome back. Looks very nice and that red car is not all that big!

Is your Elan on the register?

This has a good wheel comparison in it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W3KWU1qlfIM (Wheel bit is 4.10) its shocking how much bigger things have got on modern cars.

Ok then, here goes .....
I got my first Elan, a +2 when I was 19, since then I've got through numerous Elan's, +2's, Europas, Caterhams, 911's, etc, the last Porsche was a 997 (dull), prior to that was a 993, etc: etc:, I sold the 997 to buy this Elan.
I got this Elan from a chap in Northampton who re-built it. It has a Spyder chassis, wishbones and rear suspension setup, the engine is on webers, stainless exhaust, etc: the paintwork is lovely and was done about a year ago, actually the whole thing is lovely, not too nice that you'd not use it, but gorgeous all the same, and the colour really suits it.
I specifically wanted a FHC, never been a great fan of the DHC, and I wanted to be able to get one before they are into Elite money and outta reach.
For the amount I paid, and seeing what restoration projects go for, I think it was a bargain.
What else do you want to know?
Cheers
Peter

What a great looking Coupe! Welcome!

I too have a S4 Coupe but it needs a total restoration. As it is one of 5 Elans at my home, if someone has the energy to restore a Coupe and would like to have the start of one at a fair price, please contact me. In the meantime, this one really makes me wish mine was together. Absolutely beautiful!

I too love the lines of the coupe. I'm restoring my pre-airflow model right now. It will be and always was red, the color of the SCG road test car I fell in love with in 1966.

Good morning Peter,

I remember a French blue S4 for sale in Biggleswade, quite close to me, a couple of years ago. Can you confirm if this is that car? As you say, the car was very reasonably priced, but by the time I got off my a.se, the car was sold

Or possibly, the car in Biggleswade was bought by some gentlemen in Northants, and then sold on to you.

Lovely car. One advantage of the FHC is that it is more useable in british winter time.

I don't know, the chap I got it from said he had it for 6 years, me might have lived in Biggleswade, or maybe that was a different car :?:
