I think the bits of the gearbox Lotus Mix and match are Black where the gear casing is Ford Green, i know on mine the Bell housing and Tail case where Satin Black where the Gear case its self was Ford Green, but as it's not really seen i just painted mine Lotus Grey.

Bit of a heads up, if you uprate the Alternator make sure you have the appropriate wiring for it, a good friend had a problem with his Ignition light staying on all the time and when it was looked at he found the original wiring had melted (he's lucky there was no grounds next to it at the time as it wasn't fused)

It's taken longer than I thought but at last my Elan is complete with currently 100 miles on the clock! The final job was fitting the hood and I am very pleased with the finish. I just need to drive it now to run the engine in. Thanks once again to everyone on the forum who has helped me out over the last 3 years with my endless questions!!

William,

It looks fantastic! The color is great. I only hope mine looks as nice when I get it done.

My tranny was the same green with a satin black bell housing.

Thank you for your complimentary comments. In answer to a couple of questions, the car was painted in Regency Red 2 pack acrylic and then lacquered followed by a coat of canauba wax polish. I hasten to add that I did not spray the car myself.
