Transportation issues

I had a top nut come off after a few years of R clips instead of split pins ( original dampers ) ,the resultant camber was shocking...the car was recovered and strapped down..back in the shed it was fixed,a test drive showed something was amiss,it transpired that without the damper rod the load had bent the spring...new springs fitted and all is well.

I would expect this to be a component or installation problem.

The Elan is a lightweight sports car and thousands have been trailered for many miles strapped down exactly as yours was without incurring any problems.

Good luck in resolving this, whereabouts in the UK are you?

Hi Tony

Thanks for the post. I agree with you but the garage / specialist who did the work is blaming the transporter, it wasn't his fault, as I agree that the strapping method used is industry standard.

...........................no doubts in my mind: locotone or damper: i expect the castellated nut which needs tightening. some lotus specialist you're dealing with. the freighters, you and I ---- all of us know, just you're buddies at the garage DON'T!! good luck sandy
