Guess the part.....

I'm just resorting my collection of bits as it gets smaller and smaller as the car goes back together and have come across this.....
It is defiantly from my Elan but can't place it? as you can see it has a large hole in the middle and a smaller hole at one end and it made from what looks like card or stiff felt?? (its also bowed like it fits against some thing curved)
Any Idea's?

chris i hate to say: this is not an elan part. i?ve had every single part of my elan in my hands at one time or the other (except diff.) and i never came across anything similiar - glovebox?????? mine is handmade in cfrp and honeycomb, so i?m just guessing - BUT someone my know! sandy 36 4982

Its does appear to be the same material as the cardboard glove box (Same colour and thickness etc) but i can't see anywhere it would go? I spoke to the previous owner who couldn't remember where he took it off from but whats odd was it was in the box with the steering column and Peddles so maybe from around that area?

Hi,
Could it be the remnants of the radiator ducting panel that fits over the steering rack?

I still have the steering rack cover and it looks in good order.

Grommet on bulkhead the steering column goes through ???

Hi Chris, I have to agree with Sandy. I have fully stripped and restored 5 Elans, an S2 dhc, three S3's and one S4 and I have no recollection of ever seeing this part.
