There's side lights and there's side lights!

Federal Sprints did not have the small white running lights next to the indicator lights on the front valance.

Federal Sprints did have side light/reflectors fitted to the sides of the front and rear bumpers/fenders.

Tim

PS Can someone Stateside confirm for me whether the fender lights were electrical or just reflectors, please

Sorry I can't help with Federal "N" Elans, Tim. I can tell you that my "N" Plus 2S (February 1970) has the retangular side markers front and rear. The fronts have amber lenses and the rears have red. The units are Lucas L841, and they are combination of passive reflector in one half and electric lamp in the other half.

Found on many BL cars of the period, I believe.

Regards,

Randy

Tim, according to the Parts book they have 2 red & 2 amber combined reflector/side marker lights:

I have checked my many pictures of late Federal Sprints & the Red is always at the rear & the Amber at the front.

Checked the Work Shop Manual & do not see any extra wiring for these marker lights, but factory wiring diagram is very hit & miss, especially for Federal cars.
