Is there some technical reason behind feeding the air filter by two small tubes or is it a restriction?

Well, the diameter of the tubes can't be larger than the depth of the air cannister - and one can presume there are two tubes because of the danger of a small rodent being sucked in and getting stuck.

More seriously I'm sure I've seen a similar cannister with a large entry tube in the same axis as the filter element (must be an easier way to describe that) rather than the side.

Round k&n air filter received today in the mail box.
The kn has the same internal diameter as the paper one but has a smaller outside diameter. So it fits exactly the same way in the air canister, but look smaller looked from above.
I reverse mounted everything easily.

What i like is that the kn flows better than classic paper but hidden inside the air box the overall look of the engine bay remains original and classic.

So a small performance mod tolerated for the collection freaks!
